I did not plan my end of career but had to stop it due to a serious injury. The transition was thus a difficult exercise. You are changing world over night. You are no more part of it. You need help but it is hard to find it. If I can give any athlete an advice: you career can stop at anytime, keep it in mind; thus devote some time to prepare for you next life, it is worth it, believe me. |

When you are in your highs you obviously don't think about you post career endeavours. But when you start to feel that it is getting more difficult to succeed, when all the little signals announcing retirement start to blink, when you don't what to see or accept it, the its time to seriously start preparing your career transition. I didn't do it like many others, and I regret it deeply |

I have tried to prepare for it. I thought (all) doors would be open for me, but they weren't or closed very quickly. Olympic medals and world championship titles are by far not enough to succeed in your next career. It needs solid preparation and professional support |

When you end your career, you are confronted with a new, unknown world, with its own rules, constraints and codes. You have not been prepared at all for it, it's very tough to digest. Anything can happen. |
